Halloween can be a frightening time of year for piglets and young Heffalumps, but the power of unconditional friendship should never be underestimated. When a fierce “Gobloon” and an absence of candy threaten to ruin Lumpy’s first trick-or-treating experience, Roo and Lumpy set out to capture the Gobloon and save Halloween. As the scared pair journeys toward the tree of terror, the pair reflects on Piglet’s mastery of his fear of Halloween and begins to realize that togetherness empowers them. Perhaps true friendship can triumph over an evil Gobloon–even if the Gobloon does have the power to turn its pursuers into “jaggedy lanterns.” But, what will happen when Roo and Lumpy become separated? An eerie member of the Snow Village Halloween collection by Department 56, Grimsly’s House of Oddities promises three stories of spooky surprises–some of which burst from the windows to scare anyone who dares to approach. The exceptionally well-detailed ceramic building features a decaying brick and stone façade, intimidating gargoyles, barren trees, and interior lights that glow through every window. Three sides also have “break-out” windows showcasing especially frightful exhibits such as a caged man and escaping monster. This spooky museum makes a fun start to a new Halloween village or a fittingly frightful complement to a seasoned collector’s set.
